Lagos
The finale: The Offer and the Vault
Rules of 14 October 2026
Draft for lawyer review. This text has not yet been approved by a Nigerian or an English solicitor and may change before launch.
Every Lagos episode ends with the finale. First The Offer: the winner chooses between a fixed sum of money and a closed box. A winner who has scored enough that night can then try for the Vault. These are the rules, in full, published before anyone plays.
The Vault figure appears here after the first Lagos episode.
Who plays for it
The winner is the seat leading the scores when the last round ends, after the tie-breakers. If two seats are still level after every tie-breaker, there is no finale that night.
Arena, Campus and Teams episodes at our Lagos studio all end this way. It does not run at any other venue.
Your booking pays for a seat at the show and nothing else. Nothing you buy, and nothing you pay more for, changes what is on offer or who reaches it.
The Offer
The winner is offered ₦30,000, or one of five closed boxes. The boxes hold ₦1,000, ₦3,000, ₦6,000, ₦55,000 and ₦85,000, which average exactly the ₦30,000 offer.
Which value is in which box is drawn by the studio’s computer at the moment The Offer opens, after the last question has been played. Nobody knows the arrangement before a box is opened: not the winner, not the audience, not the crew and not the moderator.
The winner takes the offer or opens one box, and keeps what they chose.
Tonight’s number
Before the first question, the host announces tonight’s number: 90% of the highest score one seat could reach across the evening’s Lock-In and Face-Off rounds, rounded down to a whole point. Chap Relay does not count towards it. The number stays on the scoreboard all evening.
If the highest possible score falls during the evening — a player withdraws, a question is dropped, or a round ends early — the number is worked out again from what has happened and announced again.
The Vault also needs a full contest. If fewer than 3 seats were playing at the start of any Face-Off question, the Vault does not open that night, whatever the winner has scored.
A winner whose score has reached the number when The Offer ends can try for the Vault, straight after it. Nothing promises that any night’s winner will reach it.
The Vault
The Vault starts at ₦500,000. After each Lagos episode with The Offer, it grows by the value of the biggest box the winner did not open. It has no cap. When someone takes the Vault, it starts again at ₦500,000.
The figure on this page comes from the studio, after each episode. The website never works it out for itself.
Who answers
The winning seat nominates one person to answer, and the nomination is recorded. One nominee per seat: on a shared seat, the others may not help once the attempt begins.
In the Vault, the first answer the nominee speaks is the answer that is ruled on. Changing it afterwards does not count.
The attempt and the clock
An attempt is 12 questions, each with a one-word answer. The Vault’s questions are general knowledge from around the world. Get all 12 right and the nominee takes the Vault. A wrong answer, or the clock running out, ends the attempt with nothing from the Vault. What the winner took at The Offer is theirs either way.
The nominee has 60 seconds of answering time across the whole attempt, and the clock runs only while the nominee is answering:
- it starts when the host finishes reading each question;
- it stops when the moderator stops it, as the nominee answers;
- it does not run while a question is being read, or while the moderator rules.
The moderator’s stop counts if it comes within 500 milliseconds of the clock reaching zero, so the moderator’s reaction time never decides an attempt.
Rulings are final
The moderator rules every answer in the Vault. A Vault ruling is final: there is no override, no replay, no second attempt and no review after the show.
